They're only found in the Gurgu Volcano and the final dungeon. STRATEGY Being in the Giant category, the Giant Sword (Great Sword) works better against them in the WSC version, as does the Ice Sword. Ice spells are the best choice against them. MYTH/ORIGIN/OTHER GAMES In the original Japanese version (and FF Origins) the Red Giant is the Fire Gigas. Fire gigases are most likely (loosely) based on the fire giants found in AD&D. Fire giants are a warrior type of giant that lives in warmer climates and is immune to fire.
