The Wizards are the terror of this floor. You can face up to 9 of them at a time and you can't run from them. They fall easy to LIT2, but you may run out quickly. This should be no problem if you already went to the Castle of Ordeal and got the Zeus Guantlet. |
This floor is the first time you'll fight Sorcerers. They are the most horrible, nasty creatures in the game. One hit from these fiends can mean death, no matter how many hit points you have. Worse yet, their Trance ability can paralyze your whole party at once. Run away if you find them! |
Another baddie that makes its first appearance here is the Mage. They usually come in packs of 2 or 3 and cast the deadly RUB spell. Run from these too. Take the lower path to fight fewer of them. |
Head around and into the room. Watch out for the holes, they take you to floor 3b, but you'll want treasure first. |
Don't get this chest. It only has a cloth, and is guarded by Mages!!! |
Mmm, Flame Sword. This should be your second best sword at the moment. If you're playing on the WSC, this'll be useful against all the ice monsters. |
Now jump into one of the holes (it doesn't matter which one) to go to the next floor. |
Watch out, when you take a step down you'll fight... |
Undead!! There'll be a combination of these four undead critters. This is the hardest fight if you're using a one-man party. It'll depend mostly on luck in that case. |
Just like the lava floors in the Gurgu Volcano, these ice floors damage you with each step. |
When you step into the northwestern room you'll fight Frost Dragons. They can be really hard, especially when there's 2. Use AICE to defend against their Blizzard attack. |
Oooh, Ice Armor. This is the best armor right now, give it to a Fighter. It defends against all those fire attacks. Wait a minute... You should already've been to the volcano, why'd they give this now? |
If you get this you'll have to fight the Frost Dragons twice so don't! You probably don't need it anyway. |
Watch out for parties of Frost Wolves and Frost Giants on this floor. The wolves can hurt you pretty bad with their Frost attack, and the giants can be hard to run from. |
The room in the southwest is full of treasure, go, go!! |
Mmmm. |
Mmmm, to a lesser extent. |
Ditto. |
Meh, still good. |
There're Frost Wolves guarding the last 2. There's usually about 4 of them. FIR2 cleans house quite nicely. AICE can also be helpful. |
Sweeeeeet. |
Well, that's a dissapointment. |
Now get the hell over to those stairs! |
Bah! |
Ah, that's better. |
This is the exit, you don't want to leave yet tho. Well, you might want to if you've lost a few party members. |
Yes, more gold. Mmmm. |
Double bah!! |
Good, this is the best shield right now. Give it to a Fighter. |
Now get in there! |
They Eye is waiting for you in front of the chest. It isn't all that hard, but it has all kinds of nasty spells like XXXX. So, you'll probably win, but not everyone will survive... |
I think it's worth noting, that the Eye had a different picture in the Japanese version. Its Japanese name is Beholder. The American version's picture was used in the Japanese FF1&2 cart. Also, in the WSC version, it has yet another new name: Evil Eye. The picture is based upon the American version's picture. |
Yes, you got the Floater! Now try to get the hell out of here. Go into one of the holes. |
Crap! You're back here again. |
Here's the hardest part. You have to get back thru here avoiding all the Mages and Sorcerers and stuff, and you may be short a warrior or 2 after the fight with the Eye. |
Quick, get out!!!. |
