If you're playing with a single character (see the parties page) this will be the first really hard place. One hit from a coctrice can stop your trip short. A party of specters and geists will mop the floor with you; very, very slowly. Bring plenty of HEALs with you, and spring for the best armor. Of course, if you have a normal party be sure to bring plenty of SOFT. Five should be good. And use a TENT outside. But you did that anyway didn't you?
In this hall, called the Hall of Giants, you will find giants (and iguanas) at every step. This can be a good place to gain levels and gold but Finger Point is still probably better (unless you don't have any mages). Of course FP could be considered cheating, so it's your choice.
You might want to think twice about getting some of the chests. Many are guarded by earths, which are rather difficult.
Careful, there's an earth waiting to the right of this chest. This is the only chest I bother getting on this floor. The others don't have much in them, and I don't like fighting earths.
See? Just a PURE. There's an earth in this spot. You could avoid it by getting this chest from below.
Not much money, you could make more without much effort by fighting giants.
Still not much money. See why I don't bother?
Just a HEAL potion, AND there's an earth waiting in front of it. Yippee
These stairs take you to the next floor.
There are about 15 bats on this floor. They are really annoying because they get in your way a lot.
This is tied with the Dragon Sword as the best weapon a Thief can use right now.
Ooh, a CABIN. Cabtacular!
Why do they give you such piddly amounts of money by this point?
Okay, here's some good money. Watch out, there's an earth guarding the door.
What the hell?
More chump change, yay.
Take the stairs down to the next floor.
Ooh, a TENT! Yay!
The bats on this floor are even more annoying, and there are about 14 of them.
This is just a slap in the face. You walk way out of your way on a floor crawling with wizards and coctrices, and you get a frickin' HEAL! There's also a freaking earth in front of it!
Now that's more like it. There is an earth guarding it but at least you get some good money.
In addition to three annoying bats there are earths at every step in there.
Here you go, more good money. Too bad there's an earth here too.
Egads, the vampire! Hey, there's a chest behind him.
Oh dear, I am afraid of the Vampire. I was born to die.
Fighting Mr. V is pretty damn easy. He can actually be killed by one shot of FIR2 if you're lucky. Just use the best FIRE or HARM spells you have and everybody else would attack. It'll be a quick battle.
Hey a ruby! Take that sucker to the Titan.
Ooh, a mysterious stone plate.
I sense something... Evil?...
Head back to Melmond for the inn. You'll prolly want to hit Coneria or even ElfLand to fill up on potions while you're at it.
