CONERIA TOWN VISIT 2
THE BEGINNING
CONERIA CASTLE VISIT 1
CONERIA AREA
One of the first things you may notice is that if you hit the A button when you're not facing anything you get this message. It tends to get annoying sometimes, fortunately most later FFs don't have it. |
Apparently, this is Coneria, the dream city. |
It might surprise you to know that Arylon, one of the first people you meet who actually has a name, doesn't have one in the Japanese version. I was hoping she'd be a little more than a dancer, but that's it. |
Ya' know, either your characters don't listen well, or they have some nasty amounts of dirt on their faces. Every time you come to the fountain some mysterious voice tells them to wash their faces, no matter how often you visit. |
There's just something about this message I've always liked. It's even more elequent in Japanese. I can't read all of it but it starts and ends with "Ido desu." which of course means "This is a well." |
This guy's a lot of help. I guess he's there for moral support. |
This lady wants you to save the princess, people are so bossy. |
Finally, someone with some info. So Lukahn went to Cresent Lake? I always wondered how he got there. |
Hey, who do you think you're talking to here buddy? |
Jeez, why haven't any of these people saved the princess if they want her back so bad? A blind old lady with a broom or a gimpy old man with a rake would have a pretty good chance of beating Garland. Well, they'd probably need to be at level 2. |
Hmm, that is interesting sir, perhaps I'll visit this "Pravoka" some day. |
The first thing to do in town is to buy yourself some weapons. Here's what to get:
|
Then you should get some armor. Here's what to get:
|
Now that you have weapons and armor you'll want to equip them. The first time I played, I didn't know I had to equip things and got my butt kicked by imps!! (I didn't know any better, it was my first rpg. People who came over from Dragon Warrior would also have this problem because it doesn't require you to equip things.) The first thing to do is hit the start button. Then go to weapons or armor, whichever you need to equip, and hit A. |
Select "EQUIP", "TRADE", or "DROP" and hit A. To equip, select the item you want to equip and hit A. Each character can equip 1 weapon, 1 suit, 1 shield, 1 guantlet, and 1 helmet. |
Trading weapons & armor between warriors is like equipping. Select which item you want to trade, hit A, then you just hit A where you want it to go, simple. Dropping items works similar too. Just select it, hit A, and hit A again to confirm. You should rarely have to drop things, and if you watch what you're doing you should never have to drop weapons. You may wish to drop armor if you run out of room, just chuck something you can buy back cheap. |
Now get yourself some white magic if you can. White and Red Mages should definately get CURE. The White Mage should also get HARM. The rest is up to you. You may run out of money at this point. You should head outside and fight some enemies to get enough dough. |
Black magic is next. Black Mages should get FIRE at this point. You'll want SLEP and LIT too but you won't need them until after the fight with Garland. Red Mages don't actually need any black magic at this point. You'll want to get SLEP later tho. The rest is up to you. |
Next you'd want some items. At this point I don't need any but for a beginner you'll want some HEAL potions. Five is a good start. You won't need PURE potions until later, but 5 is a good # to start with them too. You may also want a tent to save before you fight Garland. After that you might want to keep a few on hand to save before important events. |
