Worthless Chapter 12 Closing the Book on Chaos The Warriors, puzzled that there was still little happiness though all four Orbs were lit, consulted the Sages in Crescent Lake. They were told that a being called Chaos had all his power flow from the fiends. He would feed them power, and they would return it to him. Thus they grew stronger and stronger. As long as either Chaos or the Fiends existed, the other would be brought back from time, thus requiring the Light Warriors to defeat them all over again. This was called the Time Loop. Chaos was currently residing in the Temple of Fiends. However, they could not reach it normally; they would have to travel back 2000 years to defeat Chaos. They were told that the way was in the present Temple. The Warriors stopped at the Dwarf Cave to forge Excalibur for Red and then they headed for the Temple of Fiends. They rested in a Tent outside and then entered. The five bats inside were the Sky Warriors of legend. They told them that the way was behind the black ball and that they had the key. "We haven't used that Lute Princess Sara gave us yet, have we?" And the Lute did open the way to the past Temple. There were enemies of all shapes and difficulties, among them a revamped Lich. Lich was fairly easy; several whacks from the Excalibur and Sun Sword and a shot or two of Harm3 and Fire3 took her down. Then on to the Fire Floor. Kary was no tougher than Lich. Kraken was significantly tougher, but nothing they couldn't handle. On Tiamat's floor, they found the legendary sword Masamune, or Masmune. Red drew it and handled it with ease. With it he easily slew Tiamat. Then finally Chaos, who was none other than... Garland?! He explained about the time loop, and in a form 20 times stronger than his previous he attacked. He knew every spell, could use every enemy ability. He was a golden demon with gleaming white fangs. Red was the first to die, valiantly taking an attack aimed for Burn. Maim was next; he collapsed from exhaustion. By the time Silk fell, however, Burn was significantly pissed. He became even angrier when she died and cleaved the evil demon in one swift stroke. "Ugh... there's blood on my hair." Then Burn revived his fellows and hauled them back to Coneria. No one knew who they were or what they had done. But all the same they had a grand old time, splitting the money four ways at first. They reconsidered when Burn removed his Pro Ring and offered it to Silk as an engagement ring. Silk gladly accepted and they shared their first passionate kiss. Thus did their journey end.
